Embracing Strength, Mobility, and Community: Colette’s Journey at Salisbury Aquatic Centre

When it comes to starting a wellness journey, many people default to chasing numbers on a scale. But for Salisbury Aquatic Centre member Colette, the goal was far more meaningful: building strength, improving mobility, and discovering what her body was truly capable of achieving.

In November 2024, Colette decided it was time to make a dedicated investment in her health. Looking for a facility that offered versatility, she chose Salisbury Aquatic Centre for its dual access to both pool and gym facilities.

Establishing a steady routine, Colette committed to training three days a week, reserving her Thursdays for the high-energy fun of Aqua Aerobics.

Focus on Strength, Not the Scale

While weight loss was never Colette’s primary objective, her dedication quickly began to pay off in transformational ways. Though the number on the scale remained unchanged, her physical shape underwent a dramatic shift.

Through regular strength and mobility work, Colette shares she has:

“Gained muscle, toned and dropped 2 dress sizes!”

More importantly, she unlocked physical abilities she hadn't experienced in years.

"I find it very enjoyable and love all the things I can do now that I couldn't before," Colette adds.

A Healthy Habit That Spreads

Beyond the physical benefits, the supportive environment at Salisbury Aquatic Centre helped turn Colette's routine into a long-term lifestyle.

"The staff are very friendly and helpful, and I have made friends with other members," she notes.

That welcoming atmosphere proved contagious. Colette's enthusiasm for her new routine quickly inspired her family, and both her brother and sister have since joined her on the same fitness journey.

What started as a simple commitment to personal mobility in late 2024 has grown into a rewarding, social, and lifelong habit. Colette’s story is a powerful reminder that true wellness isn't about chasing a number, it’s about building strength, enjoying the process, and sharing the journey with those around you.
