International Women’s Day 2026

∑Imagine a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where difference is valued and celebrated.

This International Women’s Day (IWD), we join the global movement to celebrate women’s achievements and reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality.

Observed for over 100 years, IWD belongs to everyone who believes in creating a more inclusive world. It’s a day to celebrate progress, raise awareness about ongoing challenges, and take action to drive meaningful change.

2026 Theme: #GiveToGain

This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reminds us that when we invest in women, through opportunity, support, and advocacy, we all benefit. Giving our time, resources, and voices helps build stronger workplaces, stronger communities, and a more equitable future.

At Salisbury Aquatic Centre, we are proud to support International Women’s Day by celebrating the women in our team and community and continuing our efforts toward greater equity and inclusion.

Female Swim Coaches Making Waves: Meet Cody

Cody is a vital part of our Learn to Swim program, helping the next generation find their confidence in the water.

What inspired your career and what do you enjoy most? "I love working with children and I love swimming, so I thought it would be a fun opportunity to merge the two! It is a joy to see them progress."

What is your advice for women looking to build confidence in the pool? "Start off simple and at a quiet time. But the best bit of advice I can give is just START. You’ll be so proud you did."

How do you personally stay motivated and prioritise your wellbeing? "Do things that bring you joy and make you feel tired but with a smile on your face. Find a time that works for you each week to just go! It’s okay to have days that are harder than others; don’t push yourself too hard."

Personal Trainer Spotlight: Meet Halle

Halle is a Personal Trainer and Exercise Physiology student dedicated to helping our members feel stronger and more capable.

What inspired your career in fitness? "I’ve always been passionate about movement and how exercise improves both physical and mental health. I want to help people feel more capable in their everyday lives. What I enjoy most is seeing people realise they can do more than they thought, whether that’s building strength or recovering from injury."

What is your advice for women looking to build confidence in the gym? "Remember that everyone starts somewhere! Confidence comes from showing up consistently, not from being perfect. Focus on how you feel rather than what you look like. Most people are focused on their own workout, so don't be afraid to take up space. You deserve to be there."

How do you stay motivated? "For me, it’s about balance. Playing soccer, strength sessions, and getting outside for runs keeps movement fun. I prioritise recovery and listening to my body, especially when life gets busy. Looking after my own health allows me to show up as the best version of myself for my clients.
